Health and Safety policy statement

It is the Company’s policy to ensure that the highest standards of health, safety and welfare are
achieved so far as is reasonably practicable. The Directors recognise that in order to achieve
this, health and safety considerations must be ranked equally with all other business objectives.

PKS South East (Scaffolding) Ltd will provide and maintain so far as is reasonably practicable:

  • A safe system of work
  • A safe place of work with safe access to and egress from the place of work
  • Safe equipment
  • Safe means of handling, storing and transporting articles and substances
  • A safe and healthy environment
  • Adequate welfare facilities
  • Suitable personal protective equipment and ensure employees are aware of their
    obligations in respect of its use
  • Information concerning any occupational health service, medical health surveillance,
    first aid facilities and emergency procedures
  • Advice to employees of their obligations in health and safety matters to ensure they
    do not endanger the health and safety of themselves or others
  • Arrangements for joint consultation with safety representatives, where such persons
    have been appointed
  • Appointment of employee safety representatives and safety committees to promote
    communication and cooperation of staff at all levels with regard to health and safety
  • Continuous monitoring of Health and Safety Policy statement objectives to ensure
    they are achieved/renewed as and when necessary.

Additionally, PKS Scaffolding will:

  • Provide the necessary instructions in writing to each employee to enable them to
    perform their work safely
  • Ensure that each employee is made aware of their individual responsibilities and
  • Ensure that safe working practices are both understood and observed to comply with
    the Management Regulations 1999, Regulation 14
  • Seek the co-operation of all employees of the company to achieve the objectives of
    this Safety Policy

Health & Safety

Before a project is started, it is ascertained whether the scaffold falls inside TG20 or needs to
be designed & a TG20 compliance sheet or design drawing is issued prior to works to the client

On completion of each scaffold, the structures are inspected by PKS management and snagged
if necessary, then walked with the client before handing the scaffold over by which a handover
certificate is issued

Tie Testing

We are trained and qualified in scaffold tie testing and have our own tie pull testing equipment
which is calibrated every 12 months.

Upon completion of tie testing we issue certificates to confirm results which are issued to the
client and the ties on site which are tested are tagged and recorded

Training & PPE

PKS Scaffolding is committed to developing a fully trained and competent workforce. Our
management team places great emphasis on achieving best working practice through our
procedures and fully encourages all of our operatives to progress through on going training.

  •  All operatives hold valid CISRS cards.
  •  All employees undertake training in respect of Method Statements/Risk
    Assessments/Toolbox talks etc.
  • All operatives undertake regular Health & Safety Awareness training such as safe us of
    fall arrest equipment, first aid, CSCS etc.
